The ColdFusion web server Dodo is currently down. A migration to new hardware and a fresh install of the Operating System was done during our maintenance window last night. The new server is having permissions issues and the old server is forcing a chkdsk. This has the full attention of our shared administrators who are currently working on both.

[Update: 4/19/2012 @ 2:11PM Eastern]

A baremetal restore in progress as a backup. Administrators are continuing to work on both servers while this runs.

[Update: 4/19/2012 @ 4:09PM Eastern]

Both physical and virtual servers are currently being built and deployed as a contingency.

[Update: 4/19/2012 @ 8:08PM Eastern]

The migrated server was repaired, and around 6:30 PM sites began serving again. There may be some residual issues with SSL certificates but most functionality has been restored at this time.

If you are having connectivity issues to your website, other websites, and your ISP is Verizon then you may be affected by this maintenance. If you continue to have issues, it is best to seek assistance from Verizon. Unfortunately, we cannot offer any assistance in this matter as we do not have any insight into the maintenance.

During the creation of a Blank Site, users are faced with an error when attempting the create a database and the site at the same time:

To avoid this bug, select Do not create database from the Site Database / Select database engine required for this site drop down.

The new empty site will be properly provisioned. You can now go to the database management screens, MySQL in this example, to create your database.

Click New Database to start the database provisioning process

Users have reported seeing 503 Errors after publishing PHP sites from the Gallery.

This is due to a reported bug in the provisioning engine that neglects to set an ASP.Net version for the site using the provisioning process. But this is a PHP site not a .Net site! Why would I need to set a .Net version? The answer is simple, your code is handled by IIS. IIS still needs the application pool worker to handle PHP, the worker process can’t start properly is the version number isn’t set.

Fortunately the fix is simple.

Log in to your Windows Hosting Beta control panel

Select the affected site

Click Settings

Locate the setting Microsoft .NET Framework Version. Select either 2.0 or 4.0.

It may take several (up to 30) minutes for your site to restart and for the setting the take effect.

How can you avoid this issue entirely? When you create a new site, do it in multiple steps. Create a blank site, not from the Gallery, once the site is created (after a few seconds) you can choose your application from the Gallery.

Update 27.March.2012 @ 1000PM:

All websites on the shared web server Maryland are back online. Well, except one.

The IP address of the target of the DDoS has been isolated on the server and remains null routed. All other IP addresses on the server Maryland have been unblocked. We apologize for the temporary inconvenience as blocking all customers on the web server Maryland was necessary at the time due to the severity of the DDoS.

Original Post 27.March.2012 @ 630PM.

It was discovered the shared webserver Maryland was the target of a DDoS. Our Network Operations department has temporarily null routed traffic for that server. We are currently combing the server’s logs to determine which IPs can be unblocked. We will post updates when they are available.

If you are unsure of which webserver on which your website resides, log into the HostMySite.com Control Panel and it will be listed in the upper left corner.
